John Harris, Bass Guitar

Bass Equipment:

Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass (Black), Fender Precision bass (White), Ibanez SRT800DX bass (Amber), and Steinberger Synapse. I use Fender amps.

Musical Inspirations:

I find inspirations from many musicians. Musically, I’m a fan of the Beatles, Cheap Trick, ELO, the Who, Yes, Rush, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Jeff Beck, as well as many others in genres like jazz, R&B, and country.

About Me:

Started playing acoustic guitar in 4th grade after receiving a garage-sale guitar from my Grandfather. Switched to bass guitar in 8th grade when the musicteacher at school asked if anyone would volunteer to play bass for some upcoming productions; the rest is history. Played with a variety of bands through my mid-20s, and then took a few years off. But music has a way of dragging you back in, and now I’m back to playing every chance I can get. Besides Good Tymes, I play in a “surf instrumental” band (think Ventures, Dick Dale, Link Wray, Los Straightjackets), and also in the Praise and Worship band at Northridge Church in Plymouth. Similar to what Brent said, the music itself, performing it live, and making people feel the music is what I love most. By day, I’m a software developer and live in Northville with my dog.
